Week 4 task

To re Create this week

or if you are feeling clever make a better version of this

Course notes week 2 and 3

What we did on 12th Feb

We started the session by recapping on the week before.

We ……

Started up Photoshop

Opened photographs in photoshop ( File Open)

Looked at its levels (Enhance Adjust Lighting Levels) or (ctrl L).

Saved the new edited photograph using File Save as.

The main theme of the session was BLOGS so we discussed the principles and then searched google to see if there was any information about how to set up a blog.

THERE WERE THOUSANDS OF SITES TO CHOOSE FROM!

We chose to set up a BLOG through Google and followed the process and chose a design. We set up permissions inviting everyone with emails to accept and post a comment to a post that we set up. We set up emails for people who needed them.

The BLOG is qubewinterwarmers.blogspot.com

What we did on 19th Feb

The main aim of the session was to become comfortable with connecting camera and devices to the PC.

We discussed software that came with devices and it was pointed out that modern PC’s have drivers (software) built in so that the camera disk will show up in My computer and can be accessed like any other Drive that holds information ie C: the computers main hard drive or a CD ROM.
Printers will have useful software that will need to be installed for in to communicate and work with the PC.

We practiced connecting cameras and transferring pictures using drag and drop into folders that were made on the desktop.

For people who were comfortable with this task a Photoshop task was posted on the qubewinterwarmers blog to follow.

Week 1 Notes

Creative Computer Course - What we did in week 1

Organising ourselves
Made a new folder on the desktop and named it.
(right click on the desktop and choose new folder …the name will be highlighted so type a name straight away).

Looked at connecting devices to the computer and transferring data between them.

We used a digital camera to take pictures of ourselves and loaded the image onto the computer.

We ignored evasive programmes that started when connecting and closed them. We could go to My Computer and find an icon for the device and access the files by double clicking the device icon and visit the relevant folders. We click and dragged files and a folder from the devices (camera and flash drive) into the folder we made on the desktop.

Photoshop
We opened Photoshop elements 6 and opened a photograph from our folder into it File open.

We had a look at its ‘levels’ enhance adjust lighting levels or ctrl l

We looked at the histogram and adjusted the white and black points to improve the exposure of the picture.

Made sure we clicked OK before we did anything else.

We then opened another picture and tried the magic wand selection tool. We first selected the blacks in the picture and filled the selection with a colour. Edit fill selection.

We deselected our selection to stop those ant marching! Select deselect.

We then made a new layer in the layer panel and dragged it to the bottom so that it was below our picture.

We selected the picture layer and used the magic wand again to select areas of the picture. We then pressed delete on the keyboard to make the selected areas transparent.

We then selected our new bottom layer in the layer panel by clicking on it.

We selected the brush tool changed the brush style, size and colour and painted into the background so that the new colours showed through the holes we had made in the foreground picture.

The last task was to select the foreground layer and apply a style. We explored the style panels chose an outer glow and dragged it onto the picture layer to apply the style effect to that layer.

Finally we saved our edited picture into our folder File save as.

Photoshop challenge 1

Task - to create a picture of sporty spice on holiday by getting pictures from the internet.

1. Google search for this picture - use the search term 'spotty spice'. Make sure you are viewing images by clicking the images link at the top.

Click the picture when you find it to go to the website. click 'see full size image',

Copy the picture by right clicking on it and choose copy.

Paste it into photoshop -'file - new from clipboard'.

Then find a landscape background - I searched using 'picture of forest' to get this one.

First we must clear up sportys spots.
In photoshop have a go with the healing brush tool - hover over the tools to see what they are.
hint - alt click sets a target area to replicate.

Check the image sizes of each image and make them similar.

Use the magic wand to select sorty's background and delete it.

Drag sporty onto the forest background.
